Objective
I wanted to create a character that was a mix between a rodent and a dinosaur of sorts. I was keen on the details of its hair as well as its teeth.
I started out by creating several shadows, just thinking about general shapes.
From there I chose three and started working on them.
Defining a few extra features, and getting an idea of the overall feel I wanted for the character.
And then I really worked on it, on the details.
Next I wanted to create an enviroment in which this animal would live. I had in mind a forest, so I started toying with the idea of how it might look.
I chose one and worked on general composition, then started to apply the colors I had in my head. I really wanted to give the sensation of an animal trapped in a burning forest.
